Graduate Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
3.1 Set learning goals that provide achievable challenges for students of varying abilities and characteristics
Every class that we will teach will have a variety of learning needs and requirmement in it. As teachers in the modern age, we must set students achievable goals and vary our learning styles/assessment and tasks according to a students ability/learning styles. Digital resources and the internet are very useful in allowing individual research and learning dn allows allows students to achieve on their own accord.
As an ESL teacher, there can be a number of different English levels in the class. Giving students tasks and resources on programs such as http://www.esl.net/software_schools.html so that no students gets left behind. It will also allow students to learn independently and enjoy learning using technology.

3.2 Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and effective teaching strategies
In order to achieve a units work, it is very important the teachers have an effective and flexible unit plan that is realistic, achievable and relates to the curriculum/standards. It is important that teachers use appropriate assessment and tests that ensure students understand the curriculum taught. Teachers then must reflect on this according to the marks/understanding/who needs work, teachers teaching styles.
Programs such as PREZI are great to implementing ICT and having a program friendly for both students and teachers. Student can access units of work ahead of time as well as assessments and tests so there will be no more “I didn’t know we had a test today” excuses. Student can also reflect on their marks in accordance with what is expected and the classes medium mark. As an ESL and history teacher, programs such as this is extremely useful in being organised and ensuring students and teacher are on the same board.

Behaviour management is extremely impoirtant and must be done correctly to ensure student improvement and class ourcomes. Programs, articles and documentaries (teachers tv) all have different approaches that teachers can use to control behaviour and use different strategies in their classroom.
The aid of IT can be very engaging and help with behaviour management, the use of videos, games, research, interaction, smart boards etc engage students and help make learning interesting, thus engaging students that might be more troublesome. As a history teacher, I can use videos and games such as http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/games/ to engage students and lesson the need to use behavioural management strategies

· Used lots of differentiation in my lesson planning and used a variety of teaching strategies to make my lessons more interesting and engaging.

In order to achieve effective engaging and interactive lessons, it is important that teachers use ICT in their lessons. For students, they expect teacher to keep up to date with the latest resources, students are very tech savvy and expect the newest and latest technology. Its also important to use different styles of IT programs for different learning styles.
Teachers can access the world of reources from their laptop or tablet. The internet is a great resource for teachers and should be used. Sites such as TES Australia, ACARA, Teachit, SACE etc for unit and lesson planning. IN ESL is can get lesson plans and ideas from TES Australia that relates to the relevant curriculum

A number of strategies, both verbal and non verbal are used in the classroom. Communication is use through verbal, body language, writing, reading and viewing. As teachers, ICT can interact by having reources/games that include audio and visual aids.
Teachers and students can communicate through discussion, blogs, power points and websites. As an ESL teacher, students can communicate through making blogs rather than reports and use visual aids such as pictures and photos to demonstrate their communication.

As teachers, it is very important that we constantly reflect and evaluate our teaching styles, not only for ourselves, but for the students. Feedback from students and fellow teachers is very important. By having a blog or poll site, teachers can have onomous feedback on their performance.
Poll everyehwere are great ways to reflect on your teaching and make changes to your teaching, you can have feedback as much or little as you want.
As a history teacher, I could use a site such as survey monkey or socrative to get feedback and understand what level the students are in different levels. I can use Socratic to revise for exams and understand students ability and aim at helping them in different ways through a site like this.

Teacher parent relationships are very important. The use of ICT is great for keep parents up to date with due dates/whats happening with the class, assignment sheets, excursion dates etc.
Email is an easy and effective way to interact with parents. Teacher can email parents home assignments, marks, behavioural issues, absences etc. parents can now access school emails through the school website and easily contact staff or the school through the school website. Probrams such as edmodo are great to parent/classroom interaction, parents know the unit plan, assessments and whats expected of their child. Programs such as Day Map are also very useful in absences, contacts and teacher/parent contact. Through Edmodo, you could also have a parent discussion page where they can ask questions etc.
As an ESL and History teacher programs such as EDMODO are very useful, for many international parents do not live in Australia. However, it may need a translation program if they do not speak much English.
