Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts
Senior History and English as a Second Language
About Me:
I have recently completed my Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts at the University of Adelaide with a major in Senior History and minor in English as a Second Language. I grew up in Alice Springs, NT and attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College for my schooling and further worked there as a tutor for Aboriginal students and special needs worker in my gap year before moving to Adelaide for University. Having grown up in rural Australia, I would love to work in country Australia or in an Aboriginal community.
Reflecting on my schooling and educational experiences, I appreciate the immeasurable impact that teachers make on the lives of young people. I realise that education is far more than learning facts and figures and that the skills and knowledge that students acquire in the classroom are invaluable for life. Therefore, as a future teacher, I hope to be a role model that encourages young people to open their minds and provide them with the knowledge and ability to look at the world critically. I hope to enable students to believe in themselves and nurture the belief that they have the capacity to make positive contributions to society and make the world a better place.
One of my passions in life is helping people. I currently volunteer for St Vincent De Paul and have previously spent my time working for a number of other charity organisations. I believe myself to be community orientated, compassionate, enthusiastic, caring and motivated. I hold my family, faith and friends close to my heart and believe that these values will withhold me throughout my teaching and work career.
